To clarify the definition of “summer rules”, it is prohibited for any player to move the ball with either the body or clubhead to improve the lie of the ball.
The embedded ball rule shall be in effect “through the green”. Anywhere through the green a ball which is embedded in its own pitch mark in the ground, except in loose sand, may be lifted without penalty and dropped as near as possible to the spot where it lay but not nearer the hole.
Definition of “through the green” is the whole area of the course except:
A. the teeing ground and putting green of the hole played on and,
B. all hazards on the course.
The penalty for breach of this rule is 2 strokes.
