Hazelmere Golf Course hosted round 3 of the 2007 Club Championships this past Saturday. The scores reflected the fast greens and tough pin positions, with only 4 players coming in under par.
Rene De Leon recorded his 4th win of the season with a round of 2 under par 70. Rene carded 6 pars and 1 birdie on his round. On the “B” side, Dom Cejalvo shot a round of 6 under par 66 with 4 pars and 1 birdie along the way to record his 3rd win of the year.
GV Fragante recorded the most pars for the day with 11, while 7 players shared the lead in the birdie category with only 1 each.
The winners of the closest to the pin prizes were: Dave Giles, JoJo Hernandez, and GV Fragante with 2.
Robin Perrin got a 3rd place finish this week to capture the title of “Player of the Year” for the 2007 season.
Next weekend will be our first trip to the Peace Portal Golf Club which will be site for the final round of the Club Championship. The final round is shaping up to be an exciting finish with 5 players tied for the lead in the “A” division at -3. In the “B” division Dom Cejalvo enters the final round holding on to a 2 shot advantage over 2 other players.
Next Saturday will also see the Finals of the “Match Play” being played between Robin Perrin and Doug Lauson. If Robin wins the match he will be crowned Match Play Champion, if Doug holds on to win, another match will take place Sept. 29 at Swaneset. These two met earlier in the year with Robin winning on the 18th hole of the match, this time around we can expect much of the same. Good Luck to both players.
