This weekends tournament was held at the Hazelmere Golf Club with 27 members entered into the field. The cool weather and wet course conditions yielded higher than normal scores with only 2 players managing to post scores of net par.

In the “A” Division, Jon Cuhat recorded his 2nd victory in a row with a score of net 71, two shots better than Rene De Leon, Kevin Jewell and Rudy Alcantara.

On the “B” side, Dick Elrick got his 1st win of the year with a score of net par 71 beating out James Gonzaga and Gary Perrin by 2 strokes.

The KP winners this week were Kevin Jewell, James Gonzaga, Mark Pitman and Bob Hayes.

This week also saw the start of the 2011 Match Play event with 6 matches played, Kevin Jewell, Bob Hayes, Jun Tan, Jess Supnet, James Gonzaga and Paul Dhaliwal all advanced to the 2nd round with wins.

Mayfair Lakes Golf Club hosted the April 9th tournament with a field of 36 members taking part. This was our first time playing at Mayfair and the scores for the day were high with no scores of par or better being posted.

Rudy Alcantara and Paul Dhaliwal both turned in rounds of net 72 with Rudy prevailing in the tie-breaker to take the title in the “A” Division. Jon Cuhat also carded a round of 72 to take the “B” Division top spot by 2 shots over Dick Elrick.

The KP winners for the day were, Nick Asistio, Jun Tan, Robin Perrin and Doug Hume.

With his win this week Rudy takes the lead in the overall point standings with 19 points 3 points up on Mark Pitman.

The opening round of the 2011 season was played at the Northview Golf Club with 41 Members taking part in the days activities. With the less than ideal weather and playing conditions the scores for the day were surprisingly good with 14 players posting rounds of par or better. Mark Pitman posted the best round of the day with a score of 73, net 65 to take the “A” Division title by 1 shot over Rudy Alcantara. Mark recorded 12 pars and 3 birdies on his round with 2 birdies on the final 2 holes to secure his 1 shot victory. On the “B” side, returning as a member after a few years off, Gary Perrin posted a score of 68 to take the title by 1 stroke over James Gonzaga.

The 2011 season is set to start on April 2nd at the Northview Golf Club with a Breakfast Meeting before the round. This years schedule consists of 27 Tournaments with 9 Majors, 4 Special Events (2 individual and 2 team events) a 4 round Club Championship, the Players Championship, the Presidents Cup, a 2 Man Team Event, the season long Match play, and the Directors Team Event. In addition to the regular schedule, a 3 day tournament is set for the August Long Weekend at the Tualip Casino Resort in Washington, this is not an official League Tournament and no points will be awarded toward the Player of the Year.

2011 Memberships

The yearly Membership dues are now being accepted. The cost for 2011 is $85 for all returning Members and $90 for New Memberships. Payments can be sent to Michael Anthony at 7605 14th Avenue, Burnaby B.C. V3N 2A4.

Match Play Event

This years Match Play will begin play on April 16th and run until August 20th. A change in this years format is being made to ensure that all matches are completed in a timely manner, this change will include a set date that each round has to be completed. If a match is not completed by the set time those players, or player will be eliminated from further play. Please keep in mind that each round will only have 2 weeks to be completed, if you are not able to play on a regular basis it is best that you not enter this competition. The dates each round must be completed by are listed on the bottom of the Match Play diagram.

Signups for this Event are now being accepted through the Match Play Signup page. The first 32 players will be accepted.

2011 Team Event

The 2011 Directors Team Event will begin play on May 7th and continue each week until September 17th with the final round.

Homestead Golf Club in Lyndon Wash. was the site for the 2010 Players Championship with a field of 29 members taking part. Bob Hayes took this years title with a tiebreaker win over Boy Holgado, Bob shot a round of 91, net 71. After a slow start to the season Bob ended the year with 2 wins in his last 2 tournaments.

Jesse Reyes defeated Sonnie Guerrero 6 and 5 to take the Match Play title for 2010. Congratulations Jesse.

The Oct. 2nd tournament at Swaneset is the Presidents Cup with a year end BBQ to be held after the round, the cost of the BBQ will be $10 for food and beverages, make sure to confirm your spot in the tournament early so the teams can be determined.

The final regular season Tournament was held on Saturday at the Surrey Golf Club with a field of 41 members taking part. Jess Supnet carded a round of 82, net 67, to take the top spot in the “A” Division in a tiebreaker over JoJo Hernandez, this was the 3rd win for Jess. In the “B” Division Bob Hayes got his 1st win of the year with a 2 shot victory over Butch Tinio, Bob shot a round of 87, net 66.

This week was the last round for the 2010 Club Championships. Martin Abel is this years “A” Division champion with a total score of -6, 5 strokes up on runnerup Jess Supnet. Rene Trindiad took the title for the “B” Division with a total score of -6, just 1 shot better than Ellis Natividad. Congratulations to both Martin and Rene for their fine play over the last 4 weeks!

The Match Play final was determined this week with Sonnie Guerrero defeating Lance Kraus 5 and 4 to advance to the final match against Jesse Reyes.

In the final week for Player of the Year points Jesse Reyes secured his spot at the top of the standings by earning 4 points this week. Jesse takes the title by 19 points over Mark Pitman.

The KP winners this week are Lance Kraus with 2, and Martin Abel and Jess Supnet with 1 each.

Our next tournament will be the Players Championship to be played at the Homestead Golf Club in Linden Wash. The winner is decided by the low net score among all the players, there is no “A” and “B” Division split this week.

This is election year to decide the new Directors for 2011 – 2012. Anyone interested in becoming a Director is asked to enter their names before Sept. 18th. You can enter by email at mail at parbreakers.ca or by signing up at the tournament check-in.

Voting will begin on Sept. 22nd and run until Sept. 30th. A voting form will be made available on the website starting Sept. 22nd. Voting will also take place on Oct. 2nd at the windup BBQ after the round at Swaneset. All ballots will be counted and the new Directors will be named at that time.

Please note that all ballots must have 9 nominees voted for, all ballots with less or more than the required 9 will not be counted.

Round 3 of the Club Championships were held last Saturday at the Carnoustie Golf Club. Two first time winneres took both Divisions this week. Ryan Isaac carded a round of 79, net 66 to take the “A” Division by 3 shots over Fred Marasigan. Rene Trinidad’s round of 95, net 69, was good enough to take the top spot in the “B” Division by 3 shots over Danny Aganon.

The KP winners were Paul Dhaliwal, Robin Perrin with 2, and Ravi Jandu.

Sonnie Guerrero defeated Paul Dhaliwal in the Match Play competition and now moves on to play Lance Kraus with the winner going to the final.

The Pitman Team wrapped up the top spot in the Team Event this week by placing 2nd this week. They take the title with 133 pts. followed by Team Emerson with 120.5 and Team J. Tan with 106.5 pts.

The Player of the Year race comes down to the last weekend with Jesse Reyes leading the standings with 150 pts. with Mark Pitman in 2nd with 133 pts.

In the Club Championships, Robin Perrin leads the way in the “A” Division after 3 rounds with a 1 over par total, followed by Martin Abel at +2 with Fred Marasigan and Jess Supnet close behind at 4 over. Rene Trinidad leads the way in the “B” Division with a 6 under par total followed by Ellis Natividad and Danny Aganon both with 4 under par.
