Carnoustie Golf Club July 23, 2011

Carnoustie Golf Club was the site for week 17 on the schedule with 24 players entered. Despite the warm sunny weather and ideal playing conditions scores for the event were high with only 2 players posting sub par rounds.

Jess Supnet got his first win of the year on a round of 82, net 68, taking the top spot in the “A” Division by 4 shots over Ken Emerson. Jess went out in 44 with 4 pars and recorded 5 pars and 1 birdie on the back nine to post 38.

In the “B” Division, Danny Aganon carded a round of 92, net 63, taking the title by 8 strokes over runner up Nick Asistio. Danny shot 46 on the front and back nines with 2 pars on each side.

The KP winners this week were: Mark Pitman with 2, Kevin Jewell and Jesse Reyes.

In the lone Match Play game Ken Emerson defeated Rene De Leon 6 and 5 to advance to the next round.

Team Asistio took the top points in the Team event with 113 total points followed by Team Emerson with 106 and Team J. Tan with 98.

Surrey Golf Club July 16, 2011

Surrey Golf Club hosted week #16 on the schedule with a field of 28 players participating. With the rain holding off for the most part, scoring on the day was good with 10 players posting rounds of par or better.

Kevin Jewell got his 3rd win of the season taking the top spot in the “A” Division with a 3 stroke advantage over Rene De Leon. Kevin’s round included 8 pars and 2 birdies on the day. In the “B” Division, Nick Asistio recorded his best round of the year and took the top spot by 1 shot over Jun Tan, Nick posted a round of 95, net 63.

This weeks KP winners were: Ken Emerson, Jun Tan, Rudy Alcantara and Bryan Nebre.

In the Team Event, team Asistio and team Emerson tied for top spot this week with 120 points, with team J. Tan taking 3rd with 117. In the overall standings Team Hayes and Team Emerson are tied at the top with 79 points each.

Rudy Alcantara leads the overall point standings with 99 points followed closely by Ken Emerson with 98.7 and Jon Cuhat with 90.3.

Our next Tournament at Carnoustie will include a special “Team Event” as well as our regular tournament format. The team event will be the “Lone Ranger” format.

Belmont Golf Club July 9, 2011

Belmont Golf Club was the site for week 15 on the schedule with our 4th Major Tournament played with a field of 27. Scoring on the day was good with 14 of the field posting scores of par or better. The “A” division averaged 86 for the day with the “B” division turning in an average score of 99.

In the “A” division, Willie Ducay continued his winning form picking up his 3rd win in the last 4 starts. Willie’s round of 84, net 66, was good enough to take the title by 1 shot over Marc Thomas. On the “B” side, Ken Emerson also got his 3rd win of the year in a close battle with Fred Marasigan and James Gonzaga with all 3 carding rounds of net 67 with Ken coming out on top in the tiebreaker.

The weeks KP winners were, Ken Emerson, Dom Cejalvo, Dave Hollinshead, Jun Tan, Rudy Alcantara and Randy Gibson.

For the 2nd week in a row the Hayes Team and the Emerson Team tied for the top spot in the Team event with 110 points with the Jun Tan Team taking the 3rd spot with 106. Team Hayes leads the overall standings with 73 points followed closely behind by Team Emerson with 70.5 points.

The Player of the Year race is getting closer with Rudy Alcantara in the lead with 95 points followed by Ken Emerson with 90.3 and Jon Cuhat with 89.3.

Hazelmere Golf Club July 2, 2011

A field of 24 players were entered into week #14 at the Hazelmere Golf Club. Scores on the day reflected the good playing conditions with 8 players posting rounds of par or better. The “A” Division came in with an average score of 86, net 73, with the “B” Division posting an average of 100, net 78.

Willie Ducay recorded his 2nd win of the year in the “A” Division with a round of 82, net 66 and a 5 shot margin over his nearest competitors, Doug Hume and Robin Perrin.

James Gonzaga edged out Randy Gibson by 1 stroke to take the “B” Division title. James posted a round of 90, net 68 to get his 1st win of the year.

Kp winners this week were: Gary Perrin, Ken Emerson, Jay Isaac and Boy Holgado.

The top spot in the Team event was split between Team Hayes and Team Emerson with each team recording 111 points on the day, Team Anthony came in 3rd with 91 points.
