A small field of only 11 players were entered into this weekends tournament held at the Redwoods Golf Club. Two first time winners took both Division titles with Marc Thomas taking a 7 shot victory over both Kevin Jewell and Mark Pitman in the “A” Division. Marc shot a round of 89, net 72 to secure his win. On the “B” side Ken Emerson recorded a 2 shot victory over Tom Murray with a round of 92, net 72.

The KP winners were, Ken Emerson, Mark Pitman, Tom Murray and Wes Mui.

In the only Match Play game Ken Emerson defeated Mark Pitman 2 and 1 to advance to the next round of play.

2010 was the first year of our Washington golf trip with 16 golfers taking part in the 3 day tournament over the August long weekend. There was also a number of non-golfing wives who attended with activities centered on the Tulalip Resort Casino in Marysville Washington. In addition to the golfing, the group enjoyed shopping at the nearby outlet mall, dinner, casino activities and general friendship. The Tulalip Resort treated everyone extremely well and most who attended last year will be returning again this year.

Golfing Details

Three rounds of golf have been scheduled, July 30th and 31st, and August 1st.

Round 1 will be played Saturday at the Avalon Golf Links at 11:00 a.m. with green fees of $52 inc. taxes. Power carts and driving range are optional extras.

Round 2 is set for Sunday at the Kayak Point Golf Club with a tee time of 10:00 a.m. Posted green fees are $42 plus taxes power carts and driving range are optional extras. We have been provided with a 25% discount coupon for pro-shop purchases and a free shuttle service.

Round 3 will be played Monday at the Battlecreek Golf Club at 10:00 a.m. Power carts and driving range are optional extras. Senior discounts will be available for those applicable. Last year the Resort provides a free shuttle service to and from the course.

Accommodations

Tulalip Resort offers two types of rooms for us at discounted rates. The Deluxe King is available at $175 + taxes on Friday and Saturday and $135 on Sunday with a max. of 2 people per room.

The Deluxe Queen (2 queen size beds – 2 people per room) is available for $205 + taxes on Friday and Saturday and $165 on Sunday. A max. of 2 additional people can be added for a surcharge of $30 per person. All room occupants must be over 21 years of age unless sharing with their parents.

Free valet parking is included. The rooms are very well appointed with exceptional bathrooms. There are several eating/drinking locations within the hotel/casino. The hotel is non-smoking except in the casino areas.

A total of 20 room nights are being held for us until June 29th. All reservations must be secured with individual credit cards/depostis prior to June 29th to receive the discounted rates. Any rooms not secured by June 29th will be returned to the hotel inventory.

36 players entered this week’s tournament held at the Northview Golf Club under cloudy and cool conditions. Scoring on the day was good with a total of 14 players posting scores of par or better. The “A” Division average score was 85 with the “B” Division coming in with a 98 average.

Rudy Alcantara got win #2 with a round of 74, net 62, 4 shots better than runner-up Doug Hume who posted an even par round of 72, net 66. Sonnie Guerrero took the top spot in the “B” Division with a 6 stroke advantage over 3 other players. Sonnie carded a round of 90, net 64.

The winners of the KP’s this weekend were Gary Perrin, Rudy Alcantara, Dave Hollinshead and Bryan Nebre.

This week also included 5 Match Play games with Fred Marasigan, Ken Emerson, Mark Pitman, Dom Cejalvo and Rudy Alcantara all advancing to the next round of competition.

In the Directors Team event the Hayes Team took the overall point lead with it’s win this week. Team Hayes recorded 123 points followed by Team Emerson with 114 and Team Anthony with 111 points.

Week 7 of the season was held at the Swaneset Golf Club with a field of 23 members and guests taking part. With warm and fairly dry playing conditions scores were expected to be good, however, only 2 players managed to card rounds of net par. Noel Ortiz Luis and Rene De Leon both recorded rounds of net 72 with Noel coming out on top in a tiebreaker. This was Noel’s 2nd win of the 2011 season. In the “B” Division three players all submitted rounds of net 73, Gary Perrin, Jason Supnet and Ken Emerson, with Gary Perrin getting the win in a tiebreaker. This was also Gary’s 2nd win of the year.

The winners of the KP prizes were, Rene De Leon, Kevin Jewell, Butch Tinio and Boy Holgado.

In the second round of the Team event, Team Emerson took the top spot with 103 points followed by Team Asistio with 91 and Team Hayes with 89. In the overall standings all three of these teams are tied for the lead with a total of 16 points.

In the “A” Division, Rene De Leon got his first win of the year with a 2 shot victory over Doug Hume. On the “B” side, Jon Cuhat continued his hot play recording his 3rd win of the season with a tiebreaker victory over James Gonzaga.

There were 2 Match Play games played this week with Rudy Alcantara defeating Paul Dhaliwal, and Rene De Leon beating out James Gonzaga.

This weeks KP winners were, Jon Cuhat with 2, Doug Hume and Fred Marasigan.

Paul Dhaliwal got the first “eagle” of the year by holing out from 195 yards on the par 4 16th hole with the help of his “rescue club.”

This weekend saw the start of the Directors Team Event with the Hayes Team taking the top points thanks to Jon Cuhat’s 40 points, Team Asitio came in 2nd with Team Emerson taking the 3rd spot.

Guildford Golf Club hosted week 5 of the schedule with a smaller than normal field participating. Despite the less than ideal playing conditions the scores for the tournament were low with 9 players carding scores of par or better.

Noel Ortiz Luis edged out Kevin Jewell by 2 strokes to take the title in the “A” Division. Noel posted a score of 85, net 70, with 5 pars and 2 birdies for the day.

In the “B” Division, Frank Wongsoo made his season debut a successful one with a 1 shot victory over Bob Hayes and Menchie Tan. Frank posted a round of 99, net 68, with 3 pars along the way.

This week was the first of the special events with the “Flags” competition being played. Noel Ortiz Luis and Bob Hayes both managed to complete their rounds with their flags intact.

Kp winners this week were Noel Ortiz Luis, Kevin Jewell and Cholo Cebrero, with no one managing to take the tough 2nd hole.

In the lone Match Play game, Kevin Jewell got his 3rd victory with a win over Jun Tan.
