Surrey Golf Club May 22, 2010

The Surrey Golf Club was the site for week #10 of season with a field of 40 participating. Jess Supnet took the “A” title with a score of net 64, 2 strokes better than runnerup Lance Kraus. Jess went out in 41 with 1 par and 2 birdies on the front side and recorded 5 pars and 1 birdie on the back nine to shoot 38, a combined score of 79. In the “B” Division, Jesse Reyes continued his dominance by recording his 3rd win of the year on the strength of his 89, net 62, 2 shots better than Rey Fortaleza. Jesse recorded 4 pars and 1 birdie on the day to shoot scores of 44 on the front and 45 on the back nine.

With his victory this week, Jesse increased his lead in the overall points standings. He leads with 84 points, 27 points up on his nearest rival Mark Pitman.

In the Directors Team Event, Team Gonzaga and Team Marasigan tied atop the standings with scores of 144 pts. The Pitman Team takes the lead after the 2nd week with 14 pts. followed closely by Team Gonzaga with 13.5 pts. and Team M. Tan with 13 pts.

This week also saw our first “team event” of the year. The format for this game was the “lone Ranger” with the team of Fred Marasigan, Noel Ortiz Luis, Lance Kraus and Joni C. coming out on top with a score of 161.

The Kp winners this week were: Rey Fortaleza, Kevin Ufford, Wilson Canupin and Ellis Natividad.

There were 4 matches played in the Match Play event this week, the results were:

August 2010 Long Weekend Road Trip

A weekend trip to Washington State is being planned for the long weekend in August. Accommodations at the Tualip Casino Resort with golf at nearby courses, anyone interested contact Bob Hayes for further details.

Redwoods Golf Club May 15 2010

The Redwoods Golf Club was the site for the May 15th tournament with a field of 32 taking full advantage of the best weather conditions of the year so far. Despite the good conditions the scoring proved to be difficult with 9 players managing to post scores of par or better. The average scores for the “A” Division this week was 87, net 75, with the “B” Division coming in at 102, net 76.

Mark Pitman got his 2nd win in a row and his 3rd of the season thanks to a round of 76, net 66 taking the top spot by 3 shots over Robin Perrin and Fred Marasigan. Mark shot 39 on the front side with 5 pars and 4 bogeys, his back nine produced 8 pars and a lone bogey for a score of 37.

In the “B” Division, Ken Emerson got his 1st win of the season in a tiebreaker over Tony Marasigan, both players coming in with scores of net 62. Ken’s round included 6 pars and 1 birdie for the day.

This week saw the start of the Directors Team Competition, with the Jun Tan team taking the early lead with a combined total of 141 points, Team Pitman was 2nd with 133 pts. with Team Trinidad right behind them with 129 pts.

Congratulations to Randy Moore for recording the 3rd Eagle of the season, Randy eagled the Par 5 14th hole.

In the overall standings for Player of the Year, Jesse Reyes shows no signs of letting up on the top spot. This week’s 3rd place finish increases his lead to 19 points over Mark Pitman who took over the 2nd spot with this weeks victory.

Friends of Oncology Kids Invitational Golf Tournament

The 3rd Annual Friends of Oncology Kids Invitational golf tournament will be held on Saturday May 29th, at the Fort Langley Golf Club.

This tournament supports the B.C. Childrens Hospital with the funds going to improve their equipment and fund research. The cost is $110 including snacks, beverages, prizes and Lunch Banquet. For anyone interested in playing or being a Sponsor please contact Kevin Jewell or email forthekids@shaw.ca for more information.

Homestead May 8 2010

This week’s tournament was held at the Homestead Golf Club in Lynden Washington. A field of 28 members and guests enjoyed the sunny, warm and dry conditions for the first time this year. The course played difficult for the majority of the players with only a handful of players posting low scores. The average score for the “A” Division came in at 94 with the “B” Division posting an average of 104.

Mark Pitman recorded the low round of the day with a gross score of 79, taking the top spot in the “A” Division by a single shot over Paul Dhaliwal. Mark posted 5 pars and 1 birdie on the front side to score 38 and shot 41 on the back with 4 more pars and 1 birdie. This was Mark’s 2nd win of the season moving him into a tie for 3rd place in the overall standings.

Jesse Reyes continues to play great golf taking the “B” Division title in a tiebreaker over Ken Emerson. Jesse shot a round of 99 net 69 to get his 2nd win of the year securing his 1st place hold in the overall point standings with an 18 pt. advantage over Paul Dhaliwal.

The winners of the Kp prizes this week were, Mark Pitman, JoJo Hernandez and Oscar Apacible with 2.

Our next tournament will be held at the Redwoods Golf Club and will see the start of our year long Team Event. Team Pitman is looking to repeat as Champions this year so we encourage all players to come out and support their teams and give Team Pitman a run for their money!!

Carnoustie Golf Club May 1, 2010

The 2nd Major Tournament of the year was held on Saturday at the Carnoustie Golf Club with a field of 36 entered.

In the “A” Division, Robin Perrin shot the low round of the day and took the title by 4 strokes over 3 other players. Robin went out in 42 with 4 pars on the front side and followed up with 7 pars and 1 birdie on the back side to shoot an even par 35, for a total of 77, net 67.

Dom Cejalvo got his first win of the year in a tiebreaker over Jesse Reyes who was going for his 2nd win in a row. Dom shot 45 on the front side with a 47 on the back to post a score of 92, net 70.

The KP honours for this week go to: Paul Dhaliwal, Rene Trinidad, and Kevin Jewell.

In the race for the Player of Year title, Jesse Reyes’ 2nd place finish this week earned him 18 points giving him a 14 point advantage atop the standings.

A reminder for everyone playing in next Saturday’s event at Homestead in Washington, give yourself extra time in case of border lineups we don’t want to change the flights around in the last minute. If you are late you will placed at the end of the line.
