The last round of the Club Championships were held on Saturday at the Kings Links Golf Club. With the extremely windy conditions the scores were predictably high with the average score for the “A” Division at 95 and 110 for the “B” Division.

Rene De Leon captured the top spot in the “A” Division with a round of 89, net 74, and a 1 shot edge over Willie Ducay. In the “B” Division Jun Tan’s round of 103, net 79, was good enough to take the title by a stroke over Marissa Fragante and Rody Rongavilla.

The 2009 Club Champions were determined this weekend with Rene De Leon taking the “A” Division title with a combined total of 5 under par, 4 shots better than runner-up Noel Ortiz Luis. On the “B” side Wilson Canupin took the title in convincing fashion with a score of 13 under par, 13 shots better than his nearest rival Tony McAteer.

This week also saw the crowning of the Player of the Year, this year it goes to Jonni C. With his 3rd place finish this week Jonni moved into the top spot with a total of 134.5 pts. just 1 point up on Willie Ducay and 2.5 pts. better than Rene Cusi.

This weeks Kp winners were, Ellis Natividad, Willie Ducay, Rudy Alcantara and Rene De Leon.

Our next tournament at Meadow Gardens on Saturday is the Players Championship, the winner will be determined by the lowest net score of all players entered.

The finals of the Match Play event go next Saturday with Mark Pitman and Wilson Canupin going head to head to determine the 2009 winner. Mark only needs 1 win to secure the title with Wilson needing 2 victories.

Round 3 of the Club Championships was held this past weekend at the Redwoods Golf Club with a field of 36 entered. The scores for the day were higher than expected with only 5 players managing to post rounds of par or better.

Jonni C. recorded 6 pars and 1 birdie on his round of 85, net 66, to take the “A” Division by 2 shots over Rene Cusi, this was his 3rd win of the year. With his victory and 20 points for the day Jonni puts himself in the hunt for Player of the Year.

In the “B” Division, Tony McAteer got win #2 of the season with a round of net 74 and a 1 stroke victory over Wilson Canupin.

With 1 round left to play in the regular season 4 players have a shot at becoming the Player of the Year, Rene Cusi leads the way with 130 pts. with Jonni C. Willie Ducay and Jess Supnet all within reach of the top spot.

This weeks KP winnners were Robin Perrin, Rudy Alcantara, Laurie Jewell and Rene Cusi.

Going into the 4th and final round of the Club Championships the “A” Division is still wide open with Rene De Leon and Noel Ortiz Luis tied at the top with scores of -7, however, there are 7 players all within 8 shots of the lead. The “B” Division is not so close with Wilson Canupin holding a commanding lead of 12 strokes over Celso Manubay and Jesse Reyes. Good Luck to everyone on the final round!

The Hayes team took the top spot in this weeks team event followed by M. Tan’s team and the team of R. Trinidad. With only 1 week left in the competition the Pitman Team takes the title with a 16.5 pt. lead over Team Emerson. Congratulations to all the players on the Pitman team.

Saturday saw round 2 of the Club Championship played at the Belmont Golf Club with 56 members and guests taking part. With hot and dry conditions the scoring for the day was good with 16 players carding scores of par or better.

In the “A” Division, Cholo Cebrero got his 2nd win of the year with a 3 shot victory over Rene De Leon. Cholo carded a round of 78, net 60, with 8 pars and 2 birdies. On the “B” side, Wilson Canupin continued his red hot play of late to earn his 3rd win, and 2nd in a row, with a score of 85, net 58, taking the title by 5 strokes over Michael Anthony.

In the lone Match Play game, Wilson defeated Paul Dhaliwal 5 and 3 to advance to the semi-final against Jess Supnet.

In the Team Event, the team of J. Tan took top spot this week with a total of 155 pts. followed by Team Pitman with 150 pts. and Team Trinidad with 149 pts. The Pitman team increased it’s hold on 1st place now holding a 15.5 point edge over Team Emerson with 2 weeks remaining in the competition.

Noel Otiz Luis and Rene De Leon share the lead in the “A” Division Club Championship with scores of -7, 6 shots up on GV Fragante at -1. In the “B” Division Wilson Canupin’s -17 is a full 12 shots ahead of Celso Manubay and Jesse Reyes both at -5.

The race for the title of Player of the Year is heating up with Jess Supnet holding down the top spot with 114 pts. just 1/2 point up on Willie Ducay and 2 points up on Rene Cusi.

The Playoffs are here! The Club Champions will be determined over the course of the next 4 tournaments. The see the ParBreakers home page for the table listing all the Members who are eligible to compete (min. of 10 games played).

The lowest 3 game total score determines the winners. All handicap indexes will be frozen for the duration of the playoffs.

Round 1 of the 2009 Club Championships took place this weekend at the Surrey Golf Club under overcast and windy conditions, with 12 players carding rounds of par or better.

Noel Ortiz Luis took the “A” Division with a 3 stroke margin over Rudy Alcantara. Noel got his 2nd win of the year with a round of 82, net 67, with 5 pars and 3 birdies on his round.

The “B” Division was won by Wilson Canupin with a round of 93, net 67, and a 1 stroke advantage over both Rody Rongavilla and Ed Lorca, this was also Wilson’s 2nd win of 2009. Wilson also advanced to the next round of the Match Play event with a 4 and 2 victory over Martin Abel. In the other Match Paul Dhaliwal defeated Willie Ducay setting up this weekends semi-final with Paul taking on Wilson.

With 3 weeks remaining in the race for Player of the Year Jess Supnet holds a 2 point lead over Rene Cusi. With a possible 60 points up for grabs over the next 3 weeks there are 22 players with a chance to take the title.
