This weekends Tournament was held at the Swaneset Golf Club with 50 members entered, this was the final tune-up before the start of the Club Championships. GV Fragante carded a round of 80, net 70, to take the top spot in the “A” Division in a tie-breaker over Jess Supnet and Rene Cusi. GV fired off 10 pars and 1 birdie on his round to take the title. In the “B” Division, Menchie Tan got his 1st win of the year with a score of net 65 and a 5 shot advantage over Tony McAteer.

With only 9 players able to score rounds of par or better, Butch Cusi turned in the best round of the day with a 77.

This weekend was also our 2nd special Team Event day, the team of Menchie Tan, Nong Khammountry, GV Fragante and Marissa Fragante turned in a score of 77 to take the top spot.

The KP winners were: Mark Pitman, Randy Gonzales, Rene Cusi and Ken Emerson.

In the year long Team Event the Pitman team took the top points with 143, followed by Team J. Tan with 136 and Team Marasigan with 130.

Next weekend is the start of our Club Championships with round 1 being played at the Surrey Golf club, all handicaps will be frozen for the next 4 tournaments. Good Luck to everyone!

Week 24 of the 2009 season was played at the Guildford Golf Club with a field of 40 taking part. After 2 weeks of tough scoring conditions this week was a turnaround with 21 players carding scores of par or better. A pair of repeat winners took home the top spots in both Divisions this week with Rene De Leon taking the “A” Division and Dom Cejalvo the “B” Division.

With 3 pars in his last 4 holes, Rene held on to take the title over Robin Perrin by a single stroke. Rene carded 9 pars and 1 birdie on the day to shoot a round of 84, net 66.

Dom recorded pars on the last 2 holes to take the “B” division by 3 shots over Rody Rongavilla, Dom’s round of 86, net 62, included 8 pars along the way.

The KP winners this week were, Robin Perrin, GV Fragante, JoJo Hernandez and Ken Currey.

In the lone Match Play game Jay Isaac took a 1 up victory over Randy Gonzales to advance to the next round.

In the Team Competition the team of Rene Trinidad took the top points with a score of 163 pts. Jun Tan’s team came in 2nd with 148 and Team Hayes took 3rd with 146 pts. With 5 weeks remaining in the competition the team of Mark Pitman holds down 1st place with a 13.5 pt. advantage over Team Emerson.

The tournament at Swaneset this coming Saturday will feature a special team competition with each foursome representing a team, the name of the game is “Sucker in the Bucket” check out the format under the Tournament link at the top of the page.

Pt. Roberts Golf Club was the site for this week’s tournament with a field of 32 members entered. The scores this week reflected the less than ideal playing conditions with only 3 players able to record scores of par. The average scores for the “A” division came in at 93, with the “B” division at 107.

Marc Thomas’ birdie on the closing hole proved to be the winner with Marc taking the “A” division title by 1 shot over Rene Cusi. Marc shot a round of 88, net 72, with 7 pars and 1 birdie along the way. In the “B” division Dick Elrick took the top spot in a tiebreaker over Chris Campbell, both players came in with scores of 72.

The Kp winners this week were Marc Thomas, Bob Hayes, Rudy Alcantara and Lynn Stevenson.

Team Emerson led by Marc Thomas’ 46 pts. took the top spot in the Team Event with a combined team total of 142 pts. followed by Team Hayes with 126, and Team Pitman with 122.

This year’s 6th Major Tournament was held on Saturday at the Redwoods Golf Club with a field of 44 members entered. The course took it’s toll on the field with only 6 players managing to record scores of par or better. Jess Supnet got his 3rd win of the season on a round of 84, net 70, taking the “A” Division in a tiebreaker over Fred Marasigan. With his win Jess moved into the top spot in the “Player of the Year” standings holding a 15.75 pt. lead over JoJo Hernandez. In the “B” Division, Tony McAteer got his 1st win of the season with a round of 93, net 68, taking the title by 2 shots over Rene Trinidad.

The KP winners this week were, Laurie Jewell, Rene Trinidad and Randy Gonzales.

In the Team Competition the Team of Bob Hayes took the top spot with a combined score of 144 pts. 6 more than runner-up Team Pitman, rounding out the top 3 was the Team of Rene Trinidad with 135 pts. Team Pitman increased it’s hold on first place in the overall standings with a 17 pt. lead over Team Marasigan.

Northview Golf Club was the site for the Aug. 1st outing with a field of 32 members and guests taking part. The low round of the day was turned in by GV Fragante with a score of 77, including 10 pars and 2 birdies. This week saw 2 first time winners take the top spots in both divisions.

In the “A” Division Marc Thomas carded 9 pars and 1 birdie on his way to a round of 81, net 65, to take the title by 1 stroke over runner-up Willie Ducay. On the “B” side Celso Manubay took the title in a tiebreaker over Jonni C. with both players coming in at net 65.

In the race for the Player of the Year cup JoJo Hernandez holds a slim 1.25 point lead over Jonni C. and 2.75 pts. over Jess Supnet. With this weekends Tournament being a Major and 20 pts. up for grabs there are no less than 8 players that could take the top spot with a victory this weekend.

Team Marasigan got the top points in this weeks Team event with a total of 153 pts. followed closely by Team Trinidad with 151, and Team Pitman with 150.
