The 2009 season began on Saturday at the Northview Golf And Country Club under less than ideal conditions. The cold temperatures along with rain and wind made for a tough day of golf for the 40 member field.
The “A” Division had 16 players entered with GV Fragante coming out on top with a tie-breaker win over Marc Thomas. GV fired off 11 pars on his way to round of 80, net 71, to earn the title and tie for the low round of the day with Robin Perrin.
In the “B” Division 24 players battled it out with Wilson Canupin scoring a 2 shot victory over Joni C. Wilson recorded 4 pars and 1 birdie on his round of 90, net 64.

This weeks KP winners were Wilson Canupin, Jess Supnet, Joni C and Rene Cusi.
The "Shot of The Day" goes to Marc Thomas for his remarkable tee shot on the par 4 11th hole. Marc smashed his drive a total of 6 inches and was able to put “backspin” on the shot to draw it back another 2 feet behind the tee, a shot that few could (or want) to pull off. This was truly unfortunate for Marc since he ended up in a tie with GV and lost in the tiebreaker.
A glove and a 9 iron cover was turned in after the round, if this belongs to anyone let us know.

During the course of the 2009 season a special “Team Event” will take place. The team events will be played in conjunction with the regular tournament play and will not affect the weekly tournament formats in any way. We will be holding 2 team play events during the season, one on June 6th and the other on July 25th. Each foursome on those particular days will be designated as a team, the first week will be “Lone Ranger”, with the second week “Sucker in the Bucket”.
This year will also see a year long Team Event which will be played from April 4th to Sept. 26th. The teams will be made up of all active members for 2009, with 9 teams selected by the Par Breaker Directors who will be desiginated as the team “captains”. This event will be based on the Stableford System of scoring with each team receiving points each week based on their order of finish. All points will accumulate each week until the end of the season with the top team being declared the Team Winner.
Keep in mind that neither of these Team Events will affect the weekly tournament play, all you have to do is show up and play!
For a complete explanation of the team formats check out Team Events.
The point system used to determine the “Player of the Year” has been revised for the 2009 season to reflect the concerns of the membership. As in previous years the players will be split into 2 divisions, “A” and “B”, with the winner of each division receiving the top points, this has not changed from the other system. However, in the new system the next 8 positions will receive points based on the final net scores regardless of which division they are in. The “Player of the Year” will be determined by the player who has the most points at the conclusion of the season. The points will be awarded as follows:
|
