A full field of 60 took part in this weeks event held at the Guildford Golf Club. With the hot and dry conditions the scoring was perfect and 24 players turned in scores of par or better. This week saw 2 players get their 2nd wins of the season, with Robin Perrin taking the “A” division and Jun Tan taking the title in the “B” division.
Robin recorded 11 pars and 1 birdie on his round of 78, net 66, to take the “A” side by a single shot over 3 other players. Jun scored a 3 shot victory on his round of 91, net 65, on the strength of his 5 par round.

To clarify the definition of “summer rules”, it is prohibited for any player to move the ball with either the body or clubhead to improve the lie of the ball.
The embedded ball rule shall be in effect “through the green”. Anywhere through the green a ball which is embedded in its own pitch mark in the ground, except in loose sand, may be lifted without penalty and dropped as near as possible to the spot where it lay but not nearer the hole.
Definition of “through the green” is the whole area of the course except:
A. the teeing ground and putting green of the hole played on and,
B. all hazards on the course.
The penalty for breach of this rule is 2 strokes.

There has been some confusion as to whether the use of a distance measuring device is legal under the RCGA rules. To clarify the issues your executive has approved their use as noted below:
“In all Par Breakers tournaments, a player may obtain distance information by using a device that measures distance only. However, if during a tournament round, a player uses a distance-measuring device that is designed to gauge or measure other conditions that might affect his play (e.g. gradient, wind speed, temperature, etc.) the player is in breach of Rule 14-3, for which the penalty is disqualification, regardless of whether any such additional functions are actually used.”
