ParBreakers News and Updates

Surrey Golf and Country Club was the site for week 2 of the schedule with 46 members and 2 guests competing for the titles. The cold and damp conditions were evident with the overall scores coming in higher than expected.

The “A” division scores averaged 91.4, with the “B” side coming in at 104.7 for the day. The title of “A” champion went to Robin Perrin with the “B” title going to Ken Emerson.

Robin didn’t seem to be bothered by the conditions shooting a fine round of 75, net 63 to take the title by 8 strokes over Paul Dhaliwal and Aaron Ferrer. His round of 75 included 9 pars and 3 birdies.

Ken’s round of 92, net 68 was good enough for a 2 stroke win over Joni C, Celso Manubay and Oscar Apacible all tied with net 70.

This weeks KP winners were Ryan Isaac, Craig Thomas, Matthew Vibar and Michael Ahkong.

Aaron Ferrer led the field with 12 pars for the day with Robin leading in birdies with 3.

Week 3 will be played at the Sandpiper Golf Club, sign up early to reserve your spot.

Qualifing points will be determined on every Parbreaker weekly Tournament throughout the 2008 Schedule.

Entries for this qualifier can be made at any time during the year, contact either Jun or Menchie Tan to enter.

The list of qualifying players will be updated each week on the home page of the website.

Dates for the PAL Tournament have been determined, the Seniors event will be played from Feb. 19th to 22nd 2009, with the Mens event going on from Feb. 25th to 28th.

Top 8 Seniors and top 10 Masters positions have qualified. All qualified players must confirm their intentions of attending the PAL Tournament by September 30th. If anyone is not going to attend we must give the alternates enough time to make arrangements.

2008 PAL Tournament Qualifying

As of September 13, 2008

The 2008 version of Match Play will begin play on April 26th at the Point Roberts Golf & Country Club. Entries will be limited to the first 32 members signed up. All new members are welcome to participate.

To date we have 25 entries, with 7 spots still available. If less than 32 members enter, the event will be reduced to the first 16 entries.

Entry deadline is April 20th after the 5 round of the season.

The 32 player field is now complete with play set to begin on April 26th at Pt. Roberts Golf Club.

The 1st round match-ups will be completed soon.

Correction to Week 1 Results

Due to an error in the handicap listings the 4th and 5th place finishes for last weeks tournament are as follows:

Robin Perrin placed 4th with Celso Manubay placing 5th

The tie-breaker results are: Robin Perrin 38-6=32, Celso Manubay 46-11=35 and Butch Cusi 41-3=38.

Please take notice of the tournament confirmation requirements listed on certain dates, some courses require 10, 14 and 30 day notices.

An additional tournament has been added to the schedule, July 26th and 27th there will be a 2 day tournament held in Kamloops. Full details for this event will be posted at a later date with prices, courses etc. Stay tuned.

The July 26th tournament at Guildford and the Kamloops tournament will award trophies to the winners with everyone getting attendance points only, there will not be any bonus points awarded on these days.

The Membership fees for the 2008 season are now being collected. Returning members fees will be $85.00, new members fees are $90.00
